A WMS Bedson student achieved first place in the January iteration of the Caribou Mathematics Contest.

The grade six student competed against 12,374 other grade five and six students worldwide, including more than 9,500 students in Canada alone. 589 schools participated in the January competition.

The student and the parents have chosen to remain anonymous, but his mother did reach out to say that "His father and [I] appreciate [the] school’s efforts in encouraging and supporting [our son]."

This student has been a part of our school since Kindergarten, and WMS is proud of the academic success he has achieved.

WMS students have had lots of success this school year, with five students ranking top 10 in Manitoba back in October. In addition, one of our grade 8 students tied for first place worldwide in her age category.

Out of respect for the Indigenous people of Manitoba, we the students, staff, and families of WMS recognize that our school is located in Treaty One territory, on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabe, Ininew and Dakota peoples, and on the homeland of the Métis nation. We are learning about the Treaties that were made on this territory, and about the wrongs that were done to Indigenous people in the past, and that continue today. We are committed to be a community of reconciliation and peace.
